Nature (Photo Challenge)

I hoped that this time we wouldn't have any frost in winter, but now it's cold here:

Inside My Fridge (Photo Challenge)

This is my fridge in the old house we are currently living. It's weekend and it's pretty full. Because I can't afford more time for shopping we usually buy our food on Fridays. By the end of the week the fridge will get more and more empty.

Well, let's start from left to right:

- first shelf: butter and fat for frying, some cabbage salad, greek cheese for making fresh salads, Gouda cheese from Holland for our sandwiches and farmer cheese with fresh herbes

- second shelf: salami and other cold cuts for our sandwiches, meatloaf and sausages and meat for warm meals, yoghurt and semolina pudding for desserts and pickles

- third shelf: different kinds of tomatoes, delicious home made soup (looks like two big white sausages) from our local grocer, mushrooms, pork and eggs

- boxes at the bottom: lemons for making fresh salads, tomatoes, lots of peppers, onions, apples, celery, parsnips and carrots

- fridge door: green olives, mustard, creamed horseradish, lemon juice, ketchup, liquid frying fat, oil and milk

The rest of our food is stored in our pantry.

And this is the fridge in it's full beauty. Well, not seriously meant, because it's already 43 years old. I was ten when my parents bought it together with the kitchen we still use. I'm going to send the pictures to the company. Maybe I can get a present for being such a loyal customer.

This kitchen will be the last room that will be renovated in the house. We need it until all other rooms are finished. Of course it will get new kitchen furniture and also new electrical devices.

Light (Photo Challenge)

This time I chose light in a town: A sign of a pub with the names of famous German beers (and a few not from Germany too) and the sign of my favorite bakery.

 

Lunch (Photo Challenge)

This is my lunch, today and yesterday and the day before yesterday....

I'm not eating, because my job is eating me.

It's nearly 8 o'clock in the evening. I got up at 5 o'clock, I went to work, when I came home in the late afternoon I went on working for my job until now. I haven't had a single break since 5 o'clock in the morning, not even 5 minutes, and I have been working now more than 16 hours. I'm still not done.

I actually wanted to show how I would have prepared a tasty stew this evening, but I couldn't prepare anything. So I decided to show my real lunch:

Something I Made (Photo Challenge)

Apart from renovating my house and taking photos I use to make many, many things. OK, so here are my hobbies:

Drawing, painting, and since a few years making comics...

Making costumes and clothes: I love making costumes like Nefertiti, this oriental lady with harem pants or Arielle with a fish crown. The Arielle costume has got a stuffed fish tail which is worn like a gown train. At the moment I'm only sewing boring curtains for our house.

From time to time I make some jewelry design (sketch with already manufactured earrings). A few years ago a shoppping TV canal manufactured the designs. But it's nothing I make at the moment or I will do again. My jewelry cassette is overloaded since then.

From time to time I try to pimp old furniture for my house and there we are: My biggest "hobby" at the moment is renovating my house.

Because I use to make most things by myself, I didn't know what to choose.

Something Old

The oldest thing I owe is a coin of the Counts of Waldeck(at that time there were three reigning at he same time, Johan, Wolrad and Philipp) from about 1638, called "Pfennig". I found it a few years ago when strolling through the fields near our village. It's pure fun searching for old things in the fields in early spring. We found also artefacts from the Neolithic Age. But because I don't know how old they exactely are, I chose this coin.

And I chose another pic from the spinning wheel of my grandma Anna. It must be older than her, because there is a comic on it in a small glass window, which is from about 1820. I think Granny has inherited it from her grandmother. She used it until WWII and we still have a lot of linen she spun and wove.

The comic shows a couple and a rose and it says: "You beautiful girl, I love you!" The way the couple is dressed suggests that the comic came into being during the Biedermeier Era. The four knobs around the little window are made of ivory or bone.

 

My Shoes

Photo challenge today: A picture of my shoes. Because you already have got a photo of my cowboy boots I use to wear every day, there was only one pair left I currently wear. These are the shoes I use to wear when I am renovating the house. Actually they are garden shoes and in summer I also wear them when mowing the lawn or weeding the flower beds.

I've got really big feet, so I can also wear men's shoes. Sometimes this is an advantage, because they are much more comfortable than lady's shoes and they are much cheaper and have better quality. My cowboy boots are men's shoes. There are enough kinds of shoes you can wear unisex.

And to complete the picture, here is a photo of the guest bedroom how it looks this morning after wallpapering:

Usually I gave up showing pics of the rooms before they are done, because the more I do the worse they look until  they are painted, the curtains are hanging and all is tidied up and cleaned. So don't be frightened.
