Carnival, two days off. Friday and Monday. Long weekend. Ideal to get a lot of work done. Actually.
But I'm sitting here not feeling like doing anything. The tax declaration has to be made. Urgently, because I have to get a lot of money back. They treated me like a single, so I paid a lot of taxes, too much. Money I badly need for renovating the house. Providing money is of primary concern. And what am I doing!? Nothing!
There is still a lot to do in the guest bedroom. The window sill is missing and all I need for fixing it is already bought. I only have to get up and do it. But I'm sitting here at the computer.
There are 34 tests in my bag that have to be corrected. But .... right! I'm sitting here doing nothing.
There is a really huge pile auf laundry which has to be repaired and put back into the closets. But...
There are letters and invoices on my desk, a big pile. But...
There... But...
There... But...
There... But...
Please, can anybody kick my ass? I can't waste time like this. These things have to be done. And if I don't do them now there is no time to do them later, because I have a full schedule for weeks.
BUT (there's always a big but) all work and no play isn't good for Georgia's soul or family, either. Do one task each day before heading out for fun. Start with your taxes. You could delegate some of this other stuff and get it off your plate - take those tests back to school and have the students help you by grading each others papers. Laundry - you don't wear all the clothes at your house, do you? You wear it, you wash it and put it away.
I know this probably isn't the kick in the ass you were looking for, but that's what I've got. Lucky I can still get my foot up that high ;-)

Do you see why Lisa is my friend? She is full of such GOOD ideas!! And I agree with her 100%! Do one thing, then go out and play. Do another important thing tomorrow and then go out and play. The house work and laundry will be there. Do your taxes today.
One thing at a time then put one foot in front of the other. But make sure you take time for GEORGIA. Because you need taken care of too. Go to the Carnival and bring us back a LOT of pictures!!!

Thank you so much, Lisa and Ree, these were the right words at the right time. You are so right. Sometimes I overdo with working. Working is an escape from sad thoughts, I know this. And too much isn't good for anybody. I made the tax declaration yesterday at least I can do it without help. Next week I'm going to call someone who can help me with the rest, so I get hopefully some thousands of Euros back. I did nothing else, well inserting the window sill, but this was done in about one hour.
Today I'm going to do ONE further thing, nothing else. I bought a new game yesterday and we are going to play it this afternoon. You see, I am good and your words were not wasted. Big hugs to both of you. You are wonderful and beautiful women!

Sadly you are so far away. I guess we would be fantastic neighbors having our chit chat club in our kitchens or in the garden.
Yes, we played a bit after I painted two ceilings. And it was really nice. I don't feel bad because I did my duty and we had fun. Perfect day!
