This was the guest bedroom like, when I inherited the house. My parents never threw away any old furniture and so their first bedroom furniture were still in use as the guest bedoom. The furniture are from 1952. They were dark and unattractive and the color "olive green" that was combined to some beige and pink did not make the room look comfortable. The decoration was frumpish.
So we removed all crap of the room. A neighbor took the furniture and the rest went into the dump.
After preparing the room and painting the ceiling, after wallpapering and painting the room looks like this:
There is still a lot to do. Next weekend I'm going to install the jacks and the lamps, making a new window sill in pain black like all the others in the house, cleaning the mess, hanging curtains and so on. Only the floor must wait, because we first have to save a little money. Renovating and constructing is extremely expensive, so we can't do all at once. There will be the same floor in a light sand beige you can see through the door in the hallway.
Also furnishing the room must wait until summer, because the furniture for this room are evacuated in my other house. These are the furniture for this room:
You already know the picture. My great grandfather made two cabinets, a dresser, two beds and two nightstands for my grandma when she married. And I painted them with flowers, because they were painted in an unattractive brown. The red and sand beige color of the furniture was chosen for the walls of the guest bedroom. Combined with this will be a red gingham pattern for the curtains and cushions like it was very common at that time when the furniture were made. My grandma wove such fabric herself, but unfortunately there is not much of it left, although the linen is in very good condition. So we decided to buy a similar fabric for decorating the room.
Here is a panorama of the room:
This is a photomontage which can give you an idea how it will look like when the room is done:
Well, I'm not good with Photoshop...
